Here’s a handy Ruby script for automatically setting up Slicehost DNS for an app server. This reflects a particular choice of “standard setup” but you can use it as a template to make your own. It makes a zone like this:
mydomain.com. A 127.1.2.3
www A 127.1.2.3
mydomain.com. MX mx00.1and1.com. 10
mydomain.com. MX mx01.1and1.com. 10
mydomain.com. NS ns1.slicehost.net.
mydomain.com. NS ns2.slicehost.net.
