Trying to access site in browser...resolves to IP and /public_html folder

Updated: I created an index.html file again and it works. I added index.php to the backfistmma.com vhosts file, but it's not working for some reason. I'm sure that I'm missing something.

Apache is set up and I already set up my DNS information. The site worked earlier today with just an index.html in the public folder for my domain. Using sftp, I transferred my files over into the public directory, deleted the index.html file I created using ssh, and now when I attempt to access my site, the domain name changes to the IP address in the URL bar in Firebox, and I see only the public_html folder. If I click on public_html, a very ugly version of my Wordpress site appears (no stylesheet) and that's it.

I'm a bit stumped. Any help?!

www.backfistmma.com is the domain name.
